Dr. Pooyan Rahmanivahid

Background:
Dr. Pooyan has been working as a Head of Department and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Global College of Engineering and Technology since 2016.
He has PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University, UK (2015), MSc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Surrey, UK (2010), and BSc in Mechanical Engineering from K.N.Toosi University of Technology, Iran (2009). He has worked as teaching assistant and laboratory demonstrator in Brunel university during his PhD studies. He has published more than 10 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings.
After joining GCET he successfully completed all the requirements of the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practices from the University of West of England, UK and was awarded PGCert in 2019.
Dr. Pooyan is the Program Leader and Module Leader of Dissertation and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, of MSc Engineering Management program. He has over 10 years of experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate stages. He has taught different modules across the field of Mechanical Engineering, and has supervised more than 50 undergraduate students in Mechanical Engineering.
In collaboration with the UWE, Dr. Pooyan is working on a Formula student vehicle, in order to participate in Silverstone race competition.
In addition, Dr Pooyan is working on a project of establishing an Innovation Center at GCET campus to attract talented and young Omani entrepreneurs and SMEs.

Research Interests:
Renewable energies, Motorsport, Logistics & Finite element, Biomechanics, Vehicle technology, Design modifications/optimization, Sustainable engineering.
