Introduction

Mechanical Engineers play an important role in many of the products in the world around us. From design, manufacture, and development, to the management or marketing of products. The automotive industry is set for global growth over the next decade. Environmental challenges mean new cleaner and more efficient vehicles. Further, increasing trends in urbanization are driving the needs for better transport solutions. This would lead to increasing demand for professionals with the right knowledge and skills in automotive design and manufacture.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Vehicle Technology, you will have the opportunity to use your skills in this vital growth sector.

Why Study our Programme?

One of the main distinctive features of this programme is that the student will get a British award from the University of the West England, Bristol, UK, (recognized worldwide) while studying in Muscat.

What you will be studying?

At the beginning, you will develop a strong grounding in mathematics, design, manufacturing and mechanical engineering. As you progress, you will increase your understanding of stress analysis, dynamics, heat transfer, mechatronics, materials, automotive manufacturing, engine systems, vehicle dynamics, materials, structures, and safety together with learning industry standard software. In the final year, you will also take an individual project module to demonstrate the knowledge gained by you in the programme.

Where can it take you?

Mechanical Engineering graduates are employed in a wide range of sectors including manufacturing industries, power generation, Oil & Gas industries, construction industries, automotive and aerospace industries, just to name a few. In addition to traditional engineering jobs, mechanical engineers are sought after for the product development process and are highly regarded in the world of financial business. They are also in demand to help optimize utilization of plants and operations such as power stations, oil refineries, and other assets.

If you decide to specialise in Vehicle Technology, then the career opportunities range from automotive design to manufacturing, maintenance and marketing. There are opportunities to go do pioneering research on the next wave of green and sustainable transport technologies.

If you are interested in pursuing Postgraduate Studies after successfully completing your degree, then having a British qualification will facilitate admission to top universities in the world.
