The Global College of Engineering and Technology, GCET, is a private Higher Education Institution located in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. It was founded in 2014 and commenced operation with the first intake in the autumn of that year. The College is regulated by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and is affiliated with the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, UK on a franchise basis. This means that the awards of College’s academic programmes are issued by UWE.
Our Specialties
The College is specialised in Engineering and Technology education and currently offers the following programmes:
All above programmes are validated and quality monitored by UWE in their capacity as the awarding body.
The main distinctive feature of the above programmes is that they adopt a hands-on approach to learning and teaching.
In addition, the College offers the Foundation Studies Programme (FSP) which is aimed at preparing students to undertake their intended undergraduate studies in English medium. It includes general English, English for Academic Purpose (EAP), ICT, Mathematics, and Physics. The programme also aims at developing study and independent learning skills, which are embedded within the curriculum of the above-mentioned subjects.
The College intends to extend its academic landscape and develop, in collaboration with UWE, more programmes in the areas of Engineering and Technology. The new programmes will be carefully selected to appeal to young people and at the same time address the needs of job market of the Sultanate of Oman and the wider region.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
To promote the College, the Academic Partner and the programmes they offer using all means of marketing.
To ensure that students fully understand the benefits they will get by studying at GCET including the opportunity of getting reputable internationally recognised awards.
To extend the marketing reach to countries in the region.
To approach foreign communities residing in Oman including Indians, Pakistanis and Arabs.
STRATEGIC AIM 2: To Broaden the Academic Landscape
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
To carry out intensive market research and identify potential areas for development.
To develop further programmes based on the findings of the market research and in consultation with the Academic Partner.
STRATEGIC AIM 3: To Develop the New Campus
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
To develop the features of the new campus.
To invite tenderers to submit their architectural proposals based on the feature document.
To select the best design.
To invite tenderers to submit their building proposals based on the agreed architectural design.
To apply for funding and sign the Contract with the successful bidder.
STRATEGIC AIM 4: To be Centre of Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Research
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES:
To develop and use innovative learning and teaching methods that engage students and match their learning style. These include learning by doing, project-based learning, problem based learning and live projects from industry.
To provide all possible support to students to reach their full potentials.
To realise the concept of “Student-Centred Learning” and develop students as leaders playing key roles in the development of Oman and the wider region.
To develop research to inform teaching and to benefit the Sultanate of Oman, the region and the world community.
