Dr. Irfan Memon
Background:
Dr. Irfan Memon has been working as a Senior Lecturer in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Global College of Engineering and Technology since January 2018. He is an active researcher with over 50 research publications in the field of Telecommunications and optical fiber communication systems.
After studying Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology) from Hamdard University Karachi, Pakistan, Irfan Memon pursued his doctoral qualification in Bristol United Kingdom and received the PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol in January 2011. During his PhD, he worked innovatively on All-optical computation and memory systems under the European Union funded research project named as ‘IOLOS’ and published his results in 9 reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals.
During the postdoctoral research, Dr. Memon has proficiently worked on optical fiber communication systems and optical sensors at Prince Sultan Advanced Technologies Research Institute (PSATRI), King Saud University Riyadh Saudi Arabia. During that time, he received research grants from Saudi government funding agencies as well as industries such as Saudi Telecom company (STC).
Dr. Memon is a certified higher education teacher and has earned postgraduate certificate in academic practices in 2019 from the University of the West of England. Moreover, he has over 12 years of experience of learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate stages by teaching at higher educational institutes in UK, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and Oman. He has taught different modules across the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering like computer programming, algorithms, digital electronics using hardware descriptive languages, digital signal processing, communication systems, wireless sensor networks, wireless communication system.
In addition, Dr. Memon holds memberships of various professional organizations. He is a Professional Chartered Engineer on the register of UK Engineering Council, he is member of institute of engineering and technology (IET). He works voluntarily on different forums of IET. Besides, he is an active reviewer of many international research journals and conferences including OPTIK and International Journal of Engineering Science and Technology.
